More Sturges Award News!

From the Gettysburg College Website:

Gettysburg’s Sturges named CC Offensive Player of the Week for fourth time in 2005

GETTYSBURG, Pa.Tom Sturges (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield), a member of the Gettysburg College football team, has been named Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive Player of the Week for games of Nov. 5. It is the fourth time that he has earned the honor this season.

Sturges, a sophomore tailback, carried 31 times for 140 yards and one touchdown in the Bullets’ 17-7 win over Dickinson on Saturday, his fifth 100-yard game of 2005. His nine-yard run gave Gettysburg a 10-0 first-quarter lead, helping the Bullets post their first win over the Red Devils since 1993.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Sturges leads the CC with 1,072 rushing yards, an average of 119.1 yards per game. He also tops the conference with 127.8 all-purpose yards per game and is tied for second with six touchdowns. He is the first Gettysburg player to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark since Paul Smith in 1999.

Gettysburg (4-5, 3-2 CC) returns to action on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall (4-5, 3-2 CC) in a game with potential conference title implications. A win over the Diplomats combined with a Johns Hopkins loss to McDaniel would give the Bullets a share of their first conference title since 1985. Game time is 1 p.m.
