GCFPC WEEKLY UPDATE – Gettysburg v. University of Rochester

GCFPC WEEKLY UPDATE – Gettysburg v. University of Rochester

The Bullets travel this week to Rochester, New York to meet the Yellowjackets of U.R. in pursuit of their second win of the season. After a long-sought win over Hampden-Sydney, the Bullets look to avenge losses the last two years to Rochester.

Congraulations to Tom Sturges who has been recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week by The Centennial Conference!

Congratulations also to this week's Conference Honor Roll members - Harold Barton and Ryan Dunn for their respective performances on Defense and Special Teams.

TAILGATING / Hampden-Sydney: Thank you to all who attended, and, especially those who contributed to, this past Saturday’s pre- and post-game Tailgate at the Quarry Pavilion. We clearly continued the momentum of recent years in having a great turnout and enjoying a nice time with fellow football families and our player-sons / cheerleader-daughters (and their friends). Thanks go out especially to the Finnegans for coordinating the Tailgate. We are still looking for one or two families to join the Tailgate Committee – especially to help at the Pavilion with set up or clean up. There is a lot of clean-up even as the Tailgate is on, so you do not need to stay until the end to help with this important job (keeping the Pavilion in good shape when we leave is critical to our continuing to use its great facilities). By the way, portable bathroom facilities will be available at the Pavilion for the rest of the games.
This is a good time to ask for input from everyone, and especially first year families, for new ideas and suggestions on making the Tailgates even better – fresh views are welcome. Also, if you have any questions about Tailgates or other Club activities, please send them along and we will respond. For example, it was asked last week if parents can bring other family members and friends to the Tailgates: Club members can bring guests to the Tailgates – we just ask that you contribute something additional to the group when you do so.

ROCHESTER GAME TIME, etc.: Game time is at 12:00 noon . Tickets are $3, although in the past, parents are allowed free entrance (make sure your son puts you on a list if one is required for this). Goergen Field has been reserved for Gettysburg tailgate. The field is across the street from the stadium with easy drop off capabilities, cars will need to park away from the area. One 6’ table and a trash barrel have been allocated for our use. A campus map and directions are at http://www.rochester.edu/maps/ Directions from the Crowne Plaza to U.R. will be available at the hotel’s front desk.

ROCHESTER GAME – HOTEL: For anyone making last minute plans to go to the game, the Rochester Crown Plaza will still be willing to honor the Gettysburg College Football Parents Club block rate if rooms are still available. You can book rooms by calling the Reservations Manager’s direct line (Patty Vahue at 585-324-0038; pvahue@rcpny.com) and asking for a room under the Gettysburg College Parents Block. You can get either a two-queen or one-king bed room at the flat rate of $72 per room plus tax (up to 4 people). (Onsite parking is $3.50/day). The hotel’s website (with directions and much other information) is http://www.rcpny.com/.
Please let us know by return email if are planning to attend the game (and let us know where you will be staying overnight). Perhaps those who are interested can get together in the Crowne Plaza’s “State Street Grill” at 9:00 p.m. or so on Friday evening.

MEMBERSHIP: If you haven’t yet sent in your form and dues for membership in the Gettysburg College Football Parents Club, please do so now! A membership form is attached.

BULLETS MERCHANDISE: Orders placed by this weekend should be available for pick up at the Denison home game next Saturday. Pre-orders assure availability of merchandise and make it much easier for us. The merchandise list is attached. You can order by sending your request directly to GCFPC2006@gmail.com (if you do this, please also mail an order form and check).

ACTION PHOTOS: Bill Dowling Photography has taken great action photos from the Bullets victory over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday. They are now online and available for ordering. Due to webspace considerations, the photos for this game will be available for ordering for only the next two weeks. The photos can be found at http://www.dowlingphoto.com/ (click Bullets link in right margin). Please take a look at the photos and patronize Bill’s efforts, while getting a unique “moment in time” from your son’s / daughter’s college experience. If you have any special requests for Bill, we can pass them along. By the way, part of each purchase goes directly to the Parents Club.

ALUMNI FAMILIES - Please feel comfortable to join us at any Bullets game. Let us know if you want to sign up as an alumni member of the GCFPC (dues are only $20).

GCFPC EMAIL POLICY - This email list is solely for Gettysburg College Football Parents Club matters. By allowing your email address on this list, you agree not to disclose any address on this list or to use the list for any purpose other than Parent’s Club activities. Contact the sender of this email if you wish to be removed (or to add a secondary email address to this list).

For those attending the Rochester game, let’s be vocal in our support as we will certainly be outnumbered by the home fans.

Go Bullets!!!!!!!!!
