Flynn Earns Football Player of the Week Honors

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior quarterback Matt Flynn (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) of the Gettysburg College football team has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Sunday.

Flynn posted one of the top passing performances in school history on Saturday in the Bullets 38-7 Centennial Conference victory over Ursinus College. Completing 16-of-23 passes, he threw for a career-high 399 yards – just five shy of the school record – and three touchdowns. Flynn, who was not intercepted, threw a 63-yard touchdown pass on Gettysburg’s first play from scrimmage, and he added TD strikes of 25 and 15 yards to lead the Bullets to their first victory of the season.

With his final touchdown pass on Saturday – the 32nd of his career – Flynn pulled to within one of the school record held by Dennis Flaherty ’01.

Gettysburg (1-4, 1-2 CC) returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Moravian College in a Centennial Conference game at 1 p.m.
